A favourite of my Auntie and Uncles, my family wanted to try out Brompton Lakes lodges in Richmond North Yorkshire. We had originally booked as 6 adults earlier the previous year but given the due dates of the babies we decided to rebook the following year and go with the babies in tow. At the time of our trip O was 8 months old and my niece was 6 months. In a beautiful lakeview setting, these luxury lodges each have 3 bedrooms (plus one 6 bedroom lodge). Each lodge feels very private due to the way that they are laid out on the sight and each one has a terrace with outdoor seating looking out onto the lake. We stayed in "Juniper" for the week and had a lovely time.
In terms of amenities for the children, we were able to request a cot and highchair free of charge for each baby. You can also request a baby bath (we just used the normal bath in the ensuite room). The lodge we stayed in was a "type B" which meant all the bedrooms entered out over the living space - if we were to go ahead I would book one of the "type A" lodges as these have two bedrooms that are set back meaning it would be quieter for the little ones once they were in bed. The lodges are very well equipped and beautifully decorated so it really did feel like a luxurious stay and the babies had a nice time playing in the living area and O spent a lot of time zooming across the open plan living.
We spent our days chilling out, pottering around the lakes and one day we walked to and from Richmond with the kids in the carriers - spending some time in Richmond for a nice lunch. In the evenings it was lovely to sit and play games while the kids were in bed - "Skyjo" was a favourite of the week. We had a lovely stay but now there are four children in the family there wouldn't be the space for us all to stay in one lodge (unless we went for the 6 bedroom). Whilst it was fine for the babies, there aren't any toddler friendly activities on site (like a playground) so you would have to leave the site to find something for them. Of course we don't necessarily need a Center Parcs (given it is a totally different vibe) just one small playground that you could walk to would be extremely useful when just needing to kill half an hour - say when dinner is being prepared.
Richmond: This is a lovely little market town to wander around. We had lunch at the Little Drummer Boy Tea Room which was great and have a good childrens menu.
Website for the lodges has some great additional information on things to do in the area: https://www.holidayathome.co.uk/collection/brompton-lakes/
