A Mini Break in Malton, North Yorkshire

Published on 18 December 2021 at 13:42

Given covid restrictions were still ongoing and O was a terrible(!) sleeper, we decided to opt for a break away close to home. We had seen Malton on the Hairy Bikers and discovered it was known as the "Food Capital of Yorkshire" so we decided to give it a try. We packed up O's next 2 you (it comes with a handy travel bag) and off we went for some culinary delights! Our highlights were:

Chapter One Bistro - great little place and lovely food. They gave us a table with space for O's pram and had baby changing facilities.

The New Malton - this was in the Michelin guide and we had a fabulous meal here but it has now unfortunately closed.

Florian Poirott - delicious macarons as seen on the Hairy Bikers

Food 2 Remember - a lovely butchers with a great gluten free sausage roll for A - also as soon on the Hairy Bikers

The Patisserie Malton - a nice little deli type place where A purchased a lot of gluten free items "to go"

We took a little trip to Castle Howard to see the Christmas Lights which had a Narnia theme. They were absolutely fantastic and well worth a visit. Unfortunately O slept through the whole thing in the carrier but friends of ours had taken their babies of a similar age and said they had been mesmerised by the lights. They do a different theme each year so we will definitely be back!

We stayed in a lovely little converted barn just outside of Malton but unfortunately they are no longer doing holiday lets. If they start again I will update this post.
